Today there is a growing interest in collecting and admiring original artwork that was used as illustrations in books, magazines, and posters. Also growing, is the desire to collect and own illustrations that represent our own lives. Such as illustrations of our homes, our businesses, our pets, or just finding an illustration that just catches the eye.

Whatever your reason for collecting, illustrative art has an impact on not only us personally, but with everyone. This art form delivers messages as a whole to a society. We cannot ignore past or present, the value that illustration art has given to us all. We hope that you join us each and every month as we take you inside the world of illustrations.

    Vol. 2 Issue 1

    Hello everyone:

I hope your winter is going well. Just a few words: I am currently working on a few pieces that I hope to have done by the spring. I will also keep you updated on the Shows I will attend this year. Currently, I have a few of my pieces displayed at Gi Gi’s Café 13 S Broadway in Pitman. So, if you’re in area, stop in and see my work and enjoy a cup of coffee.

In other news, I will be teaching an Art class or classes at Holy Trinity Regional School in an after school program. I’m excited about working with the children and helping them bring out their creativity. Each child will have a finished piece to display proudly. I can’t wait to see the end result.

In closing, thank you for viewing my website and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

    First Edition

    Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the first edition of our monthly newsletter. The purpose of these publications is to keep you informed of upcoming shows, plus descriptions of new works to be added to the site.

In this edition we would like to welcome Civil War Times readers, and provide a brief biography of myself. I have been drawing since childhood. I live in Southern New Jersey with my wife and 16 year old son. I was inspired by illustrators such as NC Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Harvey Dunn, and of course the great Norman Rockwell.

It may come as a surprise to some that these artists created some of their most beautiful pieces while being forced to use only two colors. This was due to the tight fisted policies of their publishers looking to reduce costs. Most never received the recognition and respect they deserved from the mainstream art world.

My interests span from the historical and military, to Sporting Art and Architectural Renderings. My newest piece will be added in October. It features a father and son returning from a morning hunt.

In closing, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit Watson Illustrations. I hope you find as much enjoyment in my work as I did in creating them.

    Thank you,
    David T. Watson
